Patient Fisherman

I just returned from a wonderful trip to the Great Bear Rainforest. We had great luck locating spirit bears. This is an old female they call Raccoon Eyes, for obvious reasons. Here she is fishing for salmon. She was such a patient fisherman. She would remain still for long periods of time waiting for a salmon to swim within reach. So still, that I decide to try a slow shutter speed (1/13 second) in order to blur the water. Processed with Lightroom, Photoshop and Lightzone. Comments and critiques welcome.

This is really cool Jerry. Since you pointed it out, the blurred water is a great addition. Nice job keep ing the detail in the bear without blowing out the highlights.

Jerry: Excellent! I really like the serenity the bear exudes and the pose and techs are all spot on. It's a wall hanger. Richard

I think this is my favorite of your spirit bear images. Great job blurring the water and still getting excellent detail in the bear. The background is very nice as well.

I am now looking at four of your posted white bear images and all look very very good!  I like this one for her humped shoulder posture and downward gaze pose.  Trying hard to see possible tweaks...and only thing that might change presentation in a positive manner would be to experiment with placement up and down, to move her higher in the frame, giving her a more dominant or imposing feeling.  (?)  Regardless, excellent as posted.
