Leopard on a Kopje

Hello to everyone !

It has been a while since my last post . . . I have been extremely busy with back to back safaris that has resulted in an image overload. It will take me a while to go through them all.

A female Leopard on a granite boulder posing very relaxed. She is the mother of two beautiful cubs that I will post soon. The image was captured in Northern Serengeti while hosting a photographic safari last July. This was the result of 5 bracketed exposures that were blended in later in Photoshop to achieve the dynamic range. The challenge was to get all five frames in before she moved as one slight movement would have not allowed this to work. I did have to shoot a few series before I got one right. Lucky that she was quite relaxed around  the half dozen vehicles that were stalking here.

EOS 1DX  -  EF300mm f2.8L IS USM  -  5 Bracketed Exposures  -  f4.0  -  ISO 640

Mario, this is so good on so many levels. Simple, clean, great composition, great details, color, love the clouds, nice look from your subject. Doesn't get much better than this.

One is used to seeing a lion, or a lioness, on a rocky outcrop, but to get a leopard on a kopje is special. devil

Terrific job of compositing five exposures for a wildlife capture!  That is something that we seldom get a chance to do or see.

Welcome back, Mario.  Wasn't sure if we'd see you again. ;)

Well done on the bracketing.  I don't see that technique used much with wildlife, but it sure paid off here.
