I shot this Dunlin many times yesterday while pursuing it from the opposite side of the lake wall on Quai Wilson. Dedicated as I am, I prefer not to clamber on rocks, lakeside, nor kneel in shallow water! Close range shots presented a problem with shallow DOF – side-on shots were the only ones having sharp focus for the entire bird. The bird finally got fed-up with my intrusion, making it clear in this take.
Thanks for viewing
Your crits and nits are most welcome

Excellent detail throughout, David.  I like the look it's giving you and the rock bg works very well.

A very nice Dunlin photo. Great shot, I like the side-on. The feathers are beautiful you got a nice crisp clear rendition.

David, that head-turn really emphasizes your title. I like the colors and surroundings. You mention cropped. The RHS seems cramped - just curious if you have more room over there.

Hi David,

I like the color and detail of the dunlin's  plumage. Pose is great too.  Crop is OK, but a little more room on the right may help the comp. Well done.....................Jim

Thanks for your comments. Yes, Bill, there was plenty of space on the right hand side prior to cropping. The final iteration measures 50.1% of the original frame. I tend to favor close-cropped avian images.

Hi David
The head turn and detail are great.  I think I would have split the difference between the first crop and the second.

Thanks for your response by showing the full frame, David. And I tend to agree that only a slight crop of the original makes for a better comp.
