Cabin in the Marsh

Please view the LARGE version for better detail.

Thank you all for the comments and suggestions on my previous image.  I appreciate it.

This would pretty much be my dream spot.  A cabin (small white dot in the trees) literally sitting right at the edge of the marsh.  I was standing in 4-6 inches of warm, flowing water as the tide was high and the crabs were heading for cover when I walked out there.  A true paradise!

Comments and suggestions always welcomed and appreciated.  Thanks for looking.

Bill,

Wow, what a grand near/far landscape! The depth is tremendous here even though there isn't really anything in the foreground to anchor this. But having said that, this still has a great sense of being drawn in to the scene... and if I could walk on water, that's what I would be doing if I were there... ;-)

Interestingly, at least to me, it's a rare occasion when I think the smaller original post here works a little better than the larger view. What we typically see is the smaller post is usually darker, right, and the larger view usually opens up some shadow areas.  Well, to my eye anyway, I think the larger view could use a tad more contrast; a bit of a darker sky (maybe not Moonrise over Hernandez sky...)  The clouds are awesome! Love the whites and contrast in the clouds.  The other thing about the contrast is the foreground.  I don't know what the RAW looks like, but I'm wondering if you can play around with the various channels like yellow and/or green to draw out some contrast.  There's a lot of nuetral tones and back to my comment about something to anchor the scene, I think bringing out some of the smaller grasses, or plants in the water (making them darker than the water) might make a difference.

Minor thoughts, but I think this one has huge potential!

Superb clouds Bill! I also agree with the grandness of the scene, and that more contrast in the foreground would be complimentary.

Bill, I love this composition, and the clouds and sky look like some of Clyde Butcher's work. I agree with Lon's assessment of the tones in the foreground. I am a little on the fence with the inclusion of the cabin. Its white roof is kind of an eye grabber, at least to me. The nice thing about B&W is there are many ways to manipulate tones for a different look.

A  grand scenic image in the classical style of the B&W masters. The wide range of tones and the beautiful cloud formations make a strong statement. I am also enjoying the detail in the vast foreground that also serves to provide depth to the scene
