Juvenile Goldfinch

The same session as my last post.  This one perched on a giant yucca stem that I'd picked up when I was in Arizona/New Mexico this past spring.  Kind of out of place for our climate, but I still liked it.  By next spring it should have moss on it and fit right in.

7Dii, Sigma 150-600 C @ 451 mm, tripod with ballhead and Sidekick, f/9, 1/1000, iso 800, aperture priority, pattern metering, -2/3 EV (a mistake-the sky in the bg was pretty dark, so I didn't really need it).  Processed in LR & PS CC.  Cropped form a horizontal original to 7.7 MP before resizing.  Taken at 9:16 am on September 10th.

Your comments and critiques are always appreciated.

Thanks,

Interesting plumage. Nice detail. I like the perch. How about adding some space on the right to give the tail a bit more room?

Very nice, Dennis.  The gray background is very neutral and actually works quite nicely with the yellow bird.  Very sharp capture and a good job of controlling those yellow highlights.

Interesting perch, nice pose and excellent detail.  Could add some canvas on the right, but I like it as is.

This looks really good for the large crop.  You got a lot of nice detail and very little noise.  I really like the pose and the perch.

Nice image Dennis. Good techs and framing. I do feel it's a tiny bit tight on the right and bottom. Would be real easy to add canvas to this one.
