I just took this shot today.  Been watching him for quite some time between our steps and the house.  I had a vision of water drops reflecting the bricks while capturing a nice shot of him.  I think he is what is called a Garden Spider, correct me if I am wrong.  Taken with Canon 5D Mark II, Canon 100 mm L macro lens, bounce flash with a reflector.  Settings was manual exposure and timer, at f11, 1/125, ISO 100.  Cropped to better show the refractions of the bricks to 71% of the full frame.  Comments and critiques are always welcome.

Fabulous detail of the web and Argiope, Shirley.   BTW, that's a her, males are a LOT smaller. I'm not keen on the BG, but I know how metropolitan they are. Nicely shown.

Shirley, I was photographing one of these Garden spider's yesterday.  They are quite dramatic and your view here does a good job of showing off her and her web.  The collection of dew shows up nicely in the larger version.  I'm having fun with the brick wall background as I see interesting connections between it and the colors and patterns in her web.  It also makes a clear statement about where her web is.  I get a kick out of the pair of spooky faces in the pattern on her back...

Shirley, The large view is beautiful. I like the colors in the spider and the tiny dews. Nice macro!
