This red skimmer was resting on the tip of an unopened lotus blossom at our favorite gardens. I thought the bright Christmas colors were interesting. Canon 5Diii, f5.6, 1/1600 sec, iso 320, -1 EV, 100-400 ISL at 400 mm. Thanks for your C&C.

I'm always amazed that the majority of red dragonflies show up in late summer and fall, Ed.  This is a great look with the sharp (and pointed) bud and the df standing out well surrounded by a fine variety of subtle green tones.  The details and pop in the larger view are a fine improvement.

Nice shot of this little guy, Ed.  I love the colors too.  It is always nice when you can capture them in their environment.  Great detail and colors.

Ed, the red/green color combo always draws me in to an image, but the detail in the lotus bud and dragonfly are truly wonderful to see and really make the image for me. The oof lotus leaves show just the right amount of definition and tie it all together.  Very nice!

Ed,

Nicely done with comp and technique.   Nice and sharp on both the bud and bug.  The bokeh on the background is nice.
Overall a sweet image.
