Brown-eyed Susan

Going back to the same kind of flower I posted quite some time ago, but this time, I picked one and shot it indoors using a twin flash set-up and white background.  I just got the twin flash and was experimenting with it on this flower.  I had the bg light at twice the power of the one on the flower, but really probably needed to go to 4 time as I had to bring the bg up in post processing to get it as bright as I wanted.

5Diii, EF180 mm f/3.5L macro, tripod and ballhead with a KuangRen KX-800 twin macro flash, f/22, 1/200, iso 400, manual exposure and manual flash settings.  Processed in LR & PS CC.  Cropped from a horizontal original to an 18.4 MP 4x5.  Taken August 2nd.

Your comments and critiques are greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Hi Dennis,

You have some ideal, soft shadows that provide depth to the flower. Details look good and the off center comp looks nice..................Jim

Classic thirds comp. good depth and detail. Very, very minor nits—two tiny pieces of vegetation on the flower at 2:30 and 8:30.

Dennis: Nice work with your lighting and I hope the experimentation will bear fruit as fine as this. Delightful shot.>=))>

Excellent presentation, Dennis.  Lighting looks good, and wonderful detail in the flower.

Dennis, that is more equipment language than I can understand, but I'm sure glad there are people like you who do understand it and use it to produce beautiful images like this.
