Anna's Hummingbird (Calypte anna)

Place: Gilbert Water Ranch, Gilbert, AZ
Date: March 28, 2013, 7:28 am
Equipment: Nikon D300, AF-S Nikkor 300 f/2.8 D ED-IF plus TC-20E (2x), G1325 tripod with RRS BH-55, Sidekick
Exposure: ISO 800, Aperture priority spot metered, 1/400th @ f/8
Raw, PS CC 2017 on Mac, cropped to 50% of full frame

Another from the unprocessed backlog. Anna’s is the default hummingbird at the Water Ranch, and I’ve seen this pre-flight stretch many times.

The spread tail feathers make this one for me, Richard.  Excellent detail in the bird.

The spread feathers and the gorget display are great Richard.

A gorgeous capture of this hummingbird, Richard!  I love the head on, tail spread pose and the colors plus details are excellent.  The complimentary background colors really make it special.  Very, very nice! devil

The spread tail, frontal view of the gorget and the muted background combine to make this a real winner.

Nice head-on look and tail feather display.  I've always liked this presentation with an Anna's Hummingbird because it frequently allows one to see the gorget in full-color.  Nice perch and background.
