Great background and perch, Sandy.  goldfinches do seem to provide some wonderful opportunities and you did an excellent job on this one.   The only thing I could suggest would be a half step to the left to shift the bird slightly against the bg, but if you were on a tripod that would be pretty difficult and any movement can make them fly.

Sandy, I'm glad you made the comment about not being set up, because this certainly is a beautiful arrangement. I could be completely wrong, but maybe the Goldfinch is a little tiny bit bright in the head and neck area. Of course, that could always be my monitor.

Hi Sandy very nice-set up or not. Maybe the bird is a teeny bit bright but no big deal.
Has a kind of Eastern feel to it

Very artsy.  Nice color and detail.  I'm not a fan of the centered image and I think it would be better a little less centered.

David, with the prespective I had for this one quick shot, this was the only placement that could include the BG flowers.
I have no problem with a centered image when it allows other positives. There are no absolute RULES,  imo.

Sandy

This is very nice.  Looks almost like an illustration with the color of the background

Beautiful shot, Sandy, especially since you weren't set up for it.  I like what you did for the framing as well.  Very nice.
