Stock Dove (Columba oenas) at pool Anyone who knows birds will appreciate how the pigeon family can be so skittish.. These are the wild ones not the town jobs. This  species comes at the top of the list.  I,ve done a few birds and these are about the worst. This one sat in the hedge for 20 minutes before plucking up courage to come down. They are a beautiful bird too so worth the wait..

John, I'm happy that you had the patience to wait for this sweet little dove to settle in the pool.  I especially like the hint of iridescence on the neck feathers and the soft green coloring of the water.  Very nice!

Thanks Paula.
The texture on the neck area is so hard to get looking right. It always seems to look artificial. Glad you like it.
Cheers

I really like the way the distant colors on the next stand out so well.  In the large image, the light is very pleasing.  The pigeon sits well in the dark hued water.  Good job.

A really sweet pose on this one, John.  The pool reflections are making a great background as well.
