The Royal Stables in Meknes were built in the late 1600s by Sultan Moulay Ismail, known as Morocco’s most ruthless ruler. It housed 12,000 horses, each attended by a groom and a slave. It was partially destroyed by an 18th century earthquake. The many arches of the stables are still standing and offer interesting scenes for the photographer.
