This guy is everyday in my backyard, and today I could take this picture.
Canon EOS 5D Mark III, EF500mm f/4L IS USM
ƒ/5.6 500.0 mm 1/250 ISO 800
I cloned out part of the perch from the left side of the image

This thrush stands out very prominently against the dark background. In some ways it reminds me of the American Robin. Good color and detail.

That's a very cool yard bird, Jeff. Very nice techs and composition. I worked pretty hard to get a lot worse shots in the Pantanal...

They are very common here in the city I leave, Jim.
All backyard, all public parks you'll find them around.
Cheers!

A very nice pose, Jefferson, with great eye contact. Excellent detail and exposure. My only nit is I wish it had picked a perch at a little better angle. However, the perch does seem pretty forgiving and the oof foreground portion doesn't draw my attention. Well done.

Very nice scene. I love that dark background (including the lack of color, which seems to play off the lighter gray tones in the plumage and branch well).
David already referenced this, but a novice birder from around here would certainly mistake this for an American robin at first glance. Interesting resemblance.

As already mentioned the darl BG makes it. Don,t see this very often these days. Bit like the old flash days.
Good stuff

Nice clean image Jefferson. The dark BG creates a lot of tonal contrast which makes this jump off the page. If mine, I might consider burning the perch a tad. It is a little on the bright side and to me sort of ditracts from the subject a tad. Still nice work!
