Or that's a s close as my wife and I could come.  Another one from the little pond in front of my blind.  It didn't bathe or drink but did stop by and perch very nicely for me.  Despite the harsh light, which mostly showed up on the perch, this is a close as I've ever gotten to one of these.

7Dii, Sigma 150-600 C @ 600 mm, tripod with ballhead and Wimberley Sidekick, f/11 (not really needed for this, but I'd just finished shooting where I wanted a bit more dof and didn't change it), 1/1000, iso 800, aperture priority, pattern metering, -1 EV.  Processed in LR & PS CC.  Cropped to a 15.2 MP 4x5 before resizing.  Taken at 8:25 am yesterday.  As noted on my last post, the light seemed to get harsh very early yesterday.

Your comments and critiques are really appreciated.

Thanks,

Very nice pose and perch with good detail and what looks to have been decent lighting on the bird.  Stands out well against a nice background.

Nice frame.  Simple images often really shine and I think this is a nice example.  Nicely captured.

Good percher Dennis.   If anything I would try and eek out a little detail from the shadow areas.
Cheers
John
PS Looks a bit like our spotted.
