Milkweeds are terrific for macro because of how many insects they attract. Their flowers also have an interesting shape and they smell nice when you have a decent sized patch. I like the look here with the freshly opened flowers and the bud at the top. In this case, I think some more dof would be a nice improvement.

Beautiful, Lori. I am not familiar with the Milkweed blossoms and buds, but I do like the looks of them. I do agree with Mark that a little more DOF would have been nice, but still a nice photo. I don't know if you are shooting in aperture priority mode (A) on you camera, but if you are, in a situation like this, where the flowers aren't going anywhere, try changing the f-stop to 9 or 11, etc., and then change your ISO till the meter says the exposure will be right, and click it and see how it looks. Photography is a learning process for all of us, and that is a good way to learn, trying different settings and see what that does for you. Even with the shallow DOF, this is a very nice looking image.
