Swainson's Thrush

I liked the quizzical look I was getting from the Thrush; not so much the perch which was the railing on a foot bridge across a creek. Note: he's missing a leg.

Canon 7d Mark II
Sigma 150-600 at 500 mm
1/640 at f6.3
ISO 640
A very cloudy day.

Thanks for looking.  Comments and suggestions are appreciated.

Hi Allen, I too like the 'quizzical look and jaunty HA.

Any more below, as it looks like he/she is slipping out of frame and would avoid what looks to be a fraction of clipping the claw??? The 'blurring' looks a bit OTT I feel, it doesn't look natural??? I think you could have easily gone to ISO800 to add a bit more to the SS.

Looking at the larger version I might drop the purple (not magenta), so you have a more neutral fence. Whether you up the exposure a fraction and drop the sat is personal choice, hard to say/judge on visually looking at the larger image. Just my take.

You got a nice pose from this thrush Allen.  As Stephen has pointed out, it would have been nice to have a bit more room at the bottom.  The bird is not uniformly in focus for some reason.  Of course, a better situation would have been to have the bird more on the right of the frame.  Or maybe a vertical crop would be more effective?

He does have a quizzical look that you just have to love.  I agree with Stephen and Jim.

Nice catch, Allen.  Unusual to find this species out in the open like this.  I like the pose.  The oof rail seems to rise to the right and I wonder if you could carefully clone over part of it to make it parallel with the bottom of the frame, which I think would reduce it's impact.
