Oxeye Daisy

A pest around here that takes over our prairies this time of year and can get so dense that it makes walking difficult.  However, it does have a lovely flower.  In this case, I picked one, took it into the house and photographed it against a piece of white foamboard.  The light was from above and toward me through a skylight.  I used Topaz Detail to bring out some extra texture in the petals and as a side effect, got a bit more separation from the bg.

5Diii, 180 mm f/3.5L macro, tripod and 2 sec timer in live view mode, f/11, 1/20, iso 400 aperture priority, pattern metering, + 2 2/3 EV.  Processed in LR & PS CC.  Cropped from both sides with a touch of canvas added to the bottom.  Taken today at 10:57 am.

Your comments and criticisms are greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

This is excellent Dennis. I really like the lighting, the square bulls (oxe) eye is a great composition. The details are amazing. Well done.

I really love this shot, Dennis!  The white background was perfect, and the square composition works well with the shape of the flower.  Well composed and shot.

Dennis, the centered comp works well for this flower, and you've captured great detail in the flower. The white background isn't working for me though, I'd like to see it a bit darker to get more separation.

Lovely detail, and centered in the frame works well. I tend to agree with Craig, at least in finding more separation of the petals from the BG. Maybe a tint? Something else, outside the box?

I love the white on white Dennis.  Great details in the center too.

Dennis, the center is splendid! The high luminosity, the very low contrast and the white on white composition minimize the impact of the petals thus enhancing the beauty of the stamens. Excellent work for me.
