Harvest Time

Sorry for the long absence from this gallery.

This is Microseris laciniata or Cut-leaf Microseris, a native prairie dandelion like plant out here with really cool leaves.  Unfortunately, the leaves are all in a basal cluster so they're almost impossible to isolate.  One of these days I should try a stack if I can get enough other stuff out of the way.  I'm not sure, but I think this is one of the many native bees that's harvesting the pollen.  She was very industrious and continued all the way around even though it looked like she'd already reached capacity when I arrived.

5Diii, Canon EF 180 f/3.5L, tripod and cable release, f/10, 1/400, iso 400, aperture priority, pattern metering, manual focus.  Processed in LR & PS CC.  Cropped to a 15.5 MP 6x7 aspect ratio.  Taken at 10:07 AM today under cloudy skies.

Your comments and criticisms are always appreciated.

Thanks,

Well done! Nothing to fuss about at all. Colors, details, bg, even the OOF stem, all good.

Very nice, Dennis !  I like how the bee adds to the scene as a visual accent, not too obtrusive, and the tones of the bg set the yellow of the petals off to perfection.

This is excellent, Dennis, with a nice bg to go with the flower and bee.

Dennis, I am glad to admire your beautiful photos again. A very nice portrait and an excellent background. It's time for thr bee to go back to its warehouse.
