This is a female.  I'm still waiting for the male to give me a head turn.  They showed up a lot earlier this year than last year.  Can't decide whether it's global warming or just all the rain we've had...  Or perhaps they're just following only other yellow birds.

Iso 400, 600 mm, F8, 400th, D 500, 75% full frame, tripod, fill flash at -2, overcast, Topaz and TK actions

Beautiful, David.  Superb detail and color and I like the way it works against the intense green of the bg.  I've seen a couple, but haven't gotten any shots yet.

This is a great pose from a cool bird with sharp details David. To me the bg seems a little intense. Maybe decrease the saturation a touch on the bg only and see what you think. Might just be me. Very cool shot!

Smart looking bird indeed.
Excerllent BG too.
Great stuff all around.

Good detail David and I like the body posture. Personally I just find the 'vibrancy' of the background a little too much and competing with the subject, I would have tempered it to provide more prominence to the subject.

Repost with BG treatment.  I suppose all the dreary weather here has led me to ignore the bright and cheery BGs...

Hi David I feel the RP is better as it provides more separation and highlights the subject, but ultimately WDYT?

The repost is a big improvement imo David. The bird really pops now. Well done!

The repost is awesome!  I love the background like that, and in the larger version the details on bird and perch are wonderful.

Fine image!
Nice detail, colours, and pretty bird.
The re-pose, with a less bright green BG, is an improvement, imo.
