Cracking bird Jerry and your shot does it justice indeed.
Like the BG too.

Nice perch and I really like the pose, Jerry.  Excellent dof for this bird.

Hi Jerry
Your photograph really show-off the Cardinal's coloring and the head trun makes the shot. Nice work.

Jerry, awesome pose! The greens in background really makes the Cardinal pop and it's very sharp. The sweet light and comp adds a lot too.

Hi Jerry, I like the contrast of Green & Red makes for a rich image. I also like the overall body posture & HA. The base of the perch is a bit messy, however unless you could go higher then cropping isn't an option because it would be too tight at the foot. I might give the eye and surrounding area a bit more (perceptual) selective sharpening based on the larger version.

Although the camera body is light, the lens is still quite weighty, so I would have plumped for a straight ISO800 to gain more SS as there is very little difference in IQ from 320 to 800 especially HH.

I think the complementary colors here red and green work well together which is one of the reasons this image is so appealing.  Wonderful pose.  In some ways I do see some of the issues with the perch at the lower part but I suppose you could probably do some cloning there.  I imagine you'll have plenty of opportunity to take more images of these colorful birds.
