Piping Plover

Another from my visit to Padre Island National Seashore.  The bg in this is the tracks of the mini trucks they use for beach patrol on the "no vehicle" part of the beach.  That is no vehicles except official vehicles of which there were far too many in my opinion.  This bird wouldn't let me get too close, though it never really ran away, just kept its distance.  I suspect it resented the "jewelry".  Consequently, this is a pretty significant crop.

7Dii, Sigma 150-600 C @ 600 mm, hand held, f/7.1, 1/2000, iso 640, manual exposure.  Processed in LR & PS CC.  Cropped to 6.17 MP before resizing.  Taken April 13th at 8:48 AM.

Comments and criticisms are always appreciated.

Thanks,

Nice find.  I understand these birds aren't that common.  Nice sharpness in the bird and I like the walking pose.

Hey Dennis,
Beautiful composition with nice detail, pose and color pallet. To bad about the tracks in the sand and the leg bands but that's way beyond your control. The overall image seems a bit too bright on my monitor especially the neck and breast feathers along with the sand in front of the subject but overall nicely presented considering the harsh light you were dealing with.
Well done . . .  laugh

The detail held up well for such a severe crop. A small amount of exposure adjustment down would help.

Colors, details and foreground are wonderful in the larger view.  It also doesn't look too bright to me in the larger view.

Nice bird, never seen the species myself. Awful when the 'officials' do exactly what they don't want the rest of the people to do... Cheers, Hans
