Blue-headed Wagtail

by Hans Overduin

This morning with hardly any wind I decided to go back and see if I could make some more images of the Wagtails. Softer light and hence softer colors than last time.

Nikon @ 500mm | 1/2500s | f4 | ISO360 | handheld

Thanks for viewing and have a nice weekend crying,

Cheers,
Hans

Hans:

A lovely image.  I really like the soft purple in the foreground and background.  Bird is in a great place.  Nice eye contact.  As usual, very nice image.

Hans, who wouldn't be cheered up by seeing this wonderful image?  Love everything about it but especially the Wagtail's personality shining through.

I really like how you've managed to get the Wagtail in the plane of focus surrounded by the soft purple flowers.  Really nice image.

Excellent. I prefer the softer colors in this - enough purple to set the stage and show off the wagtail without overpowering it.

I got to see my first wagtail in the U.S. a month ago - a lonely White Wagtail at a sewage treatment plant in Ajo, AZ, just north of the Mexican border. Too far away for decent photos, but well worth the 2 hour drive to reach Ajo. Nothing like tihs lovely setting for your image.

Beautiful detail in the Wagtail, Hans and I love the oof surroundings.  For my taste, the subject seems a bit large in the frame and further left than feels comfortable, but that's just my taste.

Lovely image, Hans! I love the colours. It looks like the detail is just fine! As Keith said, the soft purple in the background and foreground is beautiful.

Stunning!  Beautiful light, soft colours, perfect BG, and that great stare.
Congrats on another exceptional WP - and i am betting  this will be a very strong contender for the yearly awards.
