Notch at Mather

We have been having record high temps lately here in Arizona, so I was going through older snow images. There is hope as files shoe good previous storms on an April 9 and also another year on an April 15.  This was from a good storm back this January.  The sky as overcast and snowy, so there was little color, hence the B&W processing. Perhaps I should have submitted it in last weeks Weekly Challenge.

Real nice depth to the image and I really like how it fades into the fog. I might try to coax some more contrast out of the canyon walls? Nice snowy image. With summer coming, it will give you some hope for winter. sad

Doug,

I see the notch, but I'll call it a Hole!  At least that's the feeling I get; Harley mentioned nice depth and that goes right along with what I'm feeling - actually a deep, dark, black hole.  ok, a little dramatic, but this image has a dynamic feel to it for me. Which is working nicely. Also with my height issues, the vertigo is kicking in.

I might want to crop very slightly off the bottom - which takes the viewer just that much closer to the edge.

The snow-covered canyon is beautiful - even in b&w. ;-)

Nice layers of tonality in this. The misty mood is excellent. I do agree with Lon's suggestion regarding a crop. Well done, Doug.

Cool B&W image.  I would prefer to have less at the top, as I find that much area of just fog to be too big, although I do like how it transitions to fog. However, what a cool image looking down in the canyon with all that soft snow.  Good DOF looking down there.
