Sanderling

I'm sure I have shots of thousands of Sanderlings and they move so fast its hard to get a decent shot.  I was lucky with this one, getting it fairly sharp and in mid-stride.

Canon 7d Mark II
Sigma 150-600 at 600 mm
1/1250 at f6.3
ISO 640
Cropped to 90% of original.
Processed in LR and PS with some debris removed with content aware fill.

Thanks for looking, comments and suggestions are appreciated.  The large version looks better than the small one.

You are sure right that they are tough to catch.
Nice detail, pose, and BG.
I'd personally prefer a little more room on the bottom - would be easy to add with the content-aware tool, if you don't have the pixels to frame differently.
Nice work!

Nice to catch him in mid-stride Allen. Like Sandy I would prefer some more room on the bottom too. And content aware fill should work if you're familiar with it. The sand color compliments the bird well. Cool action!

Allen: good job to have caught the bird in mid stride. The bird is sharp and well posed against the b/g. Does your crop allow for a bit more room at the bottom? Fine otherwise. Richard

A little tight at the bottom but otherwise spot on, Allen.

With practice, you can anticipate their movements with the waves, but it take practice.

Great capture in the bird's action. I agree about more room.

I agree with the comments about great to catch it in stride, and great details. I think it could use some tighter cropping off of the top, and a bit off of the sides, as well as a bit more room on the bottom.

To me this looks really sharp, and its mid-stride position is awesome.
