Broken Wing

This is from the Great Smoky Mountains several winters back. The little roadside waterfall was still running strong and the branches alongside were catching some of the spray and freezing fast. Canon 40D, f13, 1/30 sec, iso 400, -0.3 EV, 17-85 IS, at 85 mm. Thank you for your thoughts and critiques.

A great find, Ed.  I'm have a fun time imagining how that shape grew.  The clarity of the broken wing is great and I especially like it's textures.  If I'd been there I have been looking to get close and image some of the background vegetation through that nice clear, structured ice.  That's what I get from my pond.  In this case, it does like like attempting something like my suggestion would land you in the river very quickly...

Really interesting ice in this scene, due to its clarity and variety (some looks frosted) as well at the shapes and textures.  As for your capture of the scene, I really enjoy how your shutter speed depicts the motion of the water as well as some of the details of its surface texture.
