Dear Sunrise

I was convinced that the deer being OOF in my last post did not work. So here's another frame with both the deer and grass in focus. Again taken at dawn in the smoky mountains of Tennessee.

Canon 5D3  EF 70-200 F/2.8 IS II @ 150 mm

1/4000s F/2.8 ISO 400

While the deer is in focus in this image, I think it has the same problem as your first post of this scene in that there is too much in the back ground.  IMHO it needs to be cropped below the line of the mountains in the BG.  Special when I look at the larger image I get the impression there is too much conflict between the deer and the BG.  I do like the deer being in focus.  Thanks for sharing.

I'll disagree with John.  I love the layered background (though I don't like how that dark little hump pops up right behind the deer's head).

I think the focus is better here.  However, I preferred the pose and composition of your first shot.  I'm sure there's a happy medium somewhere. enlightened

Sweet layers creating a placid mood.  I also prefer the more dynamic pose of the other posting, but like the deer to be in nice silhouette focus.  If it is a matter of processing, I would try to achieve the same sense of light on the wet grasses that you had in the other one, too.

I'm fine with the frame and the BG. But the frame leans towards darker side, killing the mood element here. IMHO lightening the frame overall would improve the impact.

Hisham,  while I like the image as is, I would also like to see it cropped above the second row of trees.  It makes me miss the Smoky Mountains and the quiet mornings at Cades Cove.
