Wilson Awakens

This is Wilson Peak near Telluride, Colorado. My wife decided it was too cold to journey out with me on this glorious morning up at the Wilson Mesa, so I woke up a 5:30 am and made my way. The Wilson Mesa was one of my favorite areas to explore and compose images. One was surrounded by glorious vast Vistas, and there was a sense of peace, i guess spirituality that is hard to explain. I think, yes I know one has to experience and feel it to believe it. Feeling is Believing!

Thank you for stopping by and having  a look,

canon 70d, 24-105, f14, 1/5, ISO 100, 2 and 3 stop soft GND, tripod, shutter release cable and processed in Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom CC.

Hey Ryan, good to see your post here from this spot. I have several in and around this area from a few years back now too. I will say I was confronted with some heavy snow in this area off and on during my trip. Not easy on an old So Cal driver like me. And, as I recall the town of Telluride had the worst upheaval pavement from frost I'd ever driven on.

Your use of the grads here aided with a really nice exposure overall and provided some neat detail in Wilson as well. Looks like a very productive outing for you on this trip......laugh

I like the tight view, as the grand scene can be a bit overwhelming up there.  Comp looks great, the highlight snow looks a little off to me, though not sure exactly why.  Maybe slightly over saturated with reds?  Minor compared to the rest of the image, a beauty.

This is a well crafted composition and good techs, Ryan.  The bright greens of the grove set the mountain off nicely.  Most excellent devil

Like the composition a lot, Ryan, and the colour combinations.  Beautifully presented - and I think the sense of peace you mention does indeed come through.

Ryan, your comp. does a fine job of conveying the sense of peace that you felt.  The mix of fall Aspens and kiss of light on the peak do a fine job of putting me right there, watching and listening.

Very nice, Ryan, with attractive sujects and colors with the beautiful aspens and glow on the mountain. The light is really nice. The tree color looks great. To my eye, the sky and mountain are maybe a bit oversaturated. The snow on the mountain is somewhat blue/cyan.

Ryan,

What a gorgeous autumn, aspen mountain-scape.  This image brings me right there! The only thing I'm missing is the frigid temps! ;-)   Love the colors and layers top to bottom; bluebird sky, but works beautifully with the colors throughout.

I see Scott commented on this as well and so I'll also mention. the only nit/suggestion for me is to pull back on the cyan - selectively only in the snow on the mountain; but that's fairly minor.

Love this scene! Great job capturing and presenting.

This says "High Mountain Autumn", for sure. The color looks good to me, although I agree with dropping the cyan in the snow. The light is wonderful, and you did a great job bringing out it's subtleness. Nicely done!

Well done, Ryan. The image captures a peaceful awakening and contentment that is a part of the mountain experience. Nice layering, the foreground balances nicely with the morning glow of the mountain.

Gorgeous capture Ryan. Some wonderful layering and colors. I would agree on pulling the blues/cyan down slightly in the snow but just a tad as the blues in shadow work nicely to contrast against the warm foliage.

This is well crafted image. Lovely. Cyan cast has been mentioned, that will help neon trees as well.

Beautiful, Ryan.  I love this one.  Sometimes the big fall images get to be a little overwhelming to me.  Glad you had such a peaceful journey and it comes through here.  You've had enough suggestions to make this even better.  I'll just enjoy.

Nature can definitely impart a feeling that is magical for those blessed enough to experience it. I think that's one of the reasons I like photography; to be able to bring home a little of that. Looks like you caught a beautiful morning; great layers.
