Confluence

Large Version Available

This is the confluence of Bear Brook and Lake Umbagog along the northern boarder of ME and NH.  A great spot to paddle from, but spent the morning looking for compositions along the river banks.  The spider web caught my attention for this one, probably need to view the bigger version to see it.  This was a sunrise view, with the mountains of ME in the distance.  I applied some xtra sharpening to the web portion to make it more visible, if it appears too much for your sensibilities let me know.

Single exposure, D810, 16-35mm, ISO 64

The spider webs do show much better in the larger version.  Love the long view with it's emphasis on the foreground shrub and webs leading to the gentle sunrise in the distance.

This is a nice confluence between shore and water. I am on the fence with the stalks in the water, but that is minor. The webs add a nice dimension to the image. Your processing looks very nice.

ISO 64 .......Wow, a hold over from film, eh?......sad

Excellent work here, Harry. I really like the final processing and overall natural look throughout, including the extra touch to the webs.....enlightened

Harry,

The colors and processing look spot on - even including the additional sharpening for the webs. I think you accomplished what you wanted with that.

I was gonna say that without the spider webs, I don't think the bush had enough interest... ;-)  You've composed this very well and even without your description I do get a sense of a confluence of two bodies of water.

I'm pretty sure this is level, but there is a perception of a slight tilt.  Pretty sure it's simply because of the confluence of the receeding shorelines as well as the brighter line of reflection on the water.

Overall, beautifully seen and captured.  Love the colors throughout and you did a great job showcasing the spider webs.

A pretty scene for sure, Harry. You captured the unrise light nicely. Like Lon, I wasn't too sure about the domionant foreground bush until I noticed the webs, which actually stand out nicely. Well done.

Beautiful scene, Harry!  The spider web is a nice touch.   The sunrise light is beautiful as well.  The sharpening looks good to me.

Harry, This looks really good and I like your processing on it. I think the sharpening overall is just about right and the web does stand out nicely in the large version so the extra sharpening there was a good idea I think. The background with the fog, mist and clouds looks great in the light you have there. This is very nice work!
I agree with Lon that it is most likely level but because of the curve of the land it does appear to drop to the left a little. Beautiful regardless.

The extra time spent composing this one is evident, IMO. I like the fg bush with or without the spider webs, although the webs add interest. The small light warm clouds add a sense of peace to the calm waters. Beautifully done.

The spiderweb adds a lot to this foreground that I couldn't see from the thumbnail! I think it's very well seen and processed. Nice job harry

I like what you've got here, Harry.  The spider webs sorta had you thinking  out of the box.  The in your face bush works well for me with or without the webs, but they are a nice bonus.  Very nicely composed. I might clone the branch coming out on the left bottom, just to have some breathing room there to balance out the right.
