I saw this fellow laughing at me out in the Alabama Hills. He sure does need some dental work.

Cool find and well seen and taken, Harley. Very recognizable facial features. This rock may be useful as a Rorschach test. You see the fellow in the rock laughing, so you must be in a happy frame of mind. He looks more screaming in pain to me with contorted features, so this may not say much for my mental state. So which is it, everyone? Laughing or screaming? Or don't you want to say?

The power of imagination. What a great capture, Harley. I am really interested in how you were able to see that. Tell us something more about how you got this image, please. I also like the three different textures of the rocks and the composition works perfectly. Well seen!!

IMO this collection of rocks has amazing visual beauty. Rather than direct the viewer to other forms it suggests I would concentrate on the intrinsic beauty of these rocks. For me the image is not abstract enough to divert attention away from the subjects itself. I would crop this removing the top section and make this a virtual square image of the lower half, with maybe a small adjustment of the left side. There is some great color here and the gentle light provides great texture. This probably looks good in b&w as well but it would be a shame to lose those colors.

Love it. I think he's screaming though; maybe after looking at his Dentists estimate!

Harley,
Awesome, great find! I'm with Bill though, I'm thinking screaming! But laughing is good too - it shows you have a sense of humor and that I'm full of doom and gloom.
On a serious note, beautiful colors and wonderful texture throughout. I could see a crop off the top, but only for an alternate image, not necessarily to improve on this one.
This is fun AND photographically successful all at once. Love it.

Looks like a boxing scene to me. The big rock on the right is a rock boxing glove and the one on the left is the right hand glove of the guy who just got clobbered who is obviously in the middle.

What a cool find this was, Harley. I think the boxing Jim mentioned probably caused all the needed dental work!
The colors and textures in this are fantastic. Very cool capture.

Great textures and lively shapes in this, Harley. You did a great job processing this one--it is real easy to have the Alabama Hills granite look real crunchy. I like the warm and cool color contrast. This has an almost abstract feel to it.

You need to go easy on those magic mushrooms . Seriously, this is an intriguing abstract that can really get the imagination going. Only a child or a nature photographer would ever see this in the field.

This is a fun image, and I too can see the guy Laughing at you, or maybe saying yeah you yeah I am yelling at you capture me, lol. The textures and colors are sweet, and a really cool little image.

I'm pretty sure the rock dude is just bored. It's a yawn, unfathomable boredom from eons of waiting for a skinny guy with a camera and yellow dog to come by and find him. Well that's my story. I like the colors and textures of these rocks. A yawn for sure .

Great job of seeing, Harley. Looks like one of the orc's out of the Tolkien movies. The color contrast between the rocks in front and behind let your subject stand out clearly. (I was also thinking "The Scream", but laughing is much more fun...

Harley, this has the movie "Scream" written all over it. Or anyone of those animated and elongated ghost faces videos or cartoons. These granite rocks of course have a lot in common with the ones I see each week out at J-tree. Although I love geological everything, it was not a strong subject for me in college. But, then again there were a lot of ladies in that class too.....
To be honest, I'm not seeing any crop ideas that work for me, but maybe I'm just not seeing things right. Seems to be just about right all around to me. Probably me.....
