In spite of averaging 5 degrees F above average since Jan. 1., we've had several nights below freezing, which created some layers of thin ice on my backyard ponds. With the warm temperatures, the hardy water lilies are trying to grow, albeit slowly, so there are a few spots of nice color lurking deeper in the pond. Here's a view of those leaves letting the surface ice create a textured abstract. 11 commentsThis is uniquely fascinating, and awesome! I'm right there with Igor in terms of my first impression - crab like, although a more closer look and I can't really seen any crab-like shapes... must be the colors. No matter, this is wonderful.
Hard pressed to offer any suggestions or find any nits. I can imagine you had fun photographing this and with those ice patterns and color, have more to show us!

On my first thoughts, I thought of the sea, as I can see coral under the water ice combo. I find this image to be fascinating for myself, and I love exploring all the colors textures and details.
Some really marvelous work in framing this one up, and I think it is some wonderful intimate work.
