The Thawing

After a week of high temperatures, one of the remaining ice layer of this lake broke off the bigger one. The spring-like wind
pushes it towards the Northern shore. The result is an indistinct mosaic of water and ice. This reminds me of the Arctic.
Your thoughts, comments and suggestions are very much appreciated.

Mattia,

This is such a fascinating study. Amazing how monochrome this is, yet the light and texture change so much throughout the image that it almost makes seem like colors are changing.

The change in texture just in the open water areas is amazing.  This is one of those nature abstracts I could explore for a while.  One moment I'm not sure about the top layer of open water, then next I think how important it is. Same with the dark textures in the lower right.  I think there is great potential for alternate crops, but not to improve what's presented, just because there could be many images within this one.

I know I sad monochromatic, but I also love the subtle hints of warmth and some cooler blues.

Love this more, the more I ponder.  Well seen and captured.  Not nits!

Nice Ice, Mattia.  I like the big chunks of structured ice and water.  They provide a fine sense of depth.  The details and the changes in both texture and color in the different areas looks great and makes for a very interesting image.

The various layers work well and add to the overall design. This has a nice floe to it. You did a good job handling the dynamic range.

Hi Mattia,

When I first saw this image, I was trying to figure out what I was looking at, but once I did, I am very fascinated by this scene. I have not really taken in anything like this image before, and I love the flow to this one along with subtle color shifts of dark and light. Just a very stimulating image, wonderful stuff.

Pretty cool, Mattia.  I love the different textures and subtle shifts in color in the ice and open water.  You have a wonderful eye for finding some very interesting abstracts. Nice.

I like this. Especially like the color and sheen of the water.  It's not quite abstract, at least not for me, as I see this type of thing quite often, but it might be pretty unusual for many people.
Good job of seeing and capturing this.  The shapes and textures are very appealing and well done.  Nice!
