Another Tree

Hello there,
This is another sun rise over lake scene I shot in the morning. This small tree attracted my eyes. It reaches as far as it could to the water and sun.

Do you like the composition and the color? I do not intend to over-saturate the clouds in post-processing, while keeping the contrast.

Thanks,
Bo

Looks great, Bo.  I love the silhouette of the fore tree, and the stone jetty reaching into the quite reflection on the water.  The only things I could suggest would be to clone the cable (?) in the shadow of the jetty and it's reflection and clone or crop the light spot lower left of the frame.  Really sweet sky and comp.

Love the color and composition great work, if it was mine I would like to see a little more of the base of the tree, could possibly be a great lead in to the image.

Bo, I like the color very much, and the processing is excellent. From a compositional point of view, I agree with Louis about wanting to see more of the base of the tree and its roots.

Bo,

Beautiful colors!  I don't think oversaturated and certainly well within personal interpretation.  I think this is lovely.  The tree is centered, but the jetty helps. My natural thought might be to crop from the right - but I quickly say NO, because the sky is just too beautiful to even think about cropping... ;-)

Louis & Preston, Here is the crop you like. :-D

I did shoot the image with more of its root.

Hi, Bo.  I very seldom post anything in the Landscape gallery and know very little about it, but in answer to your question, I don't think this is oversaturated at all.  I have read the other comments, including Lon's, and I personally would prefer the original post with just a little crop from the right to de-center the tree.  I think giving up a tiny bit of that beautiful sky might be worth it.

I like the color both the original and the repost but the composition needed more time and attention. In particular the shoreline beneath the tree and excluding is a jumble of broken wood and twigs that feels out of place with this serene setting. IMO the jetty was fine.

I cropped the image once again. Moved the tree off center.

One thing that can not be tuned much is composition. This reminds me that I should spend more time on composition when shooting in the field. This lighting condition changed very fast, but a careful consideration should have been done.

Thanks,
Bo

I don't ordinarily read others' comments before posting my own, but for some reason I did this time.  It has been interesting to see everyone's thoughts.  I like the color in the sky as well as the reflected light and I think it looks quite natural.  I also like your choice to silhouette the tree against the sky.  For my tastes, the bottom of the frame is a bit cluttered so I prefer the original post.  In fact the only change that I would make to the original would be to crop a bit from the top of the frame similar to what you did with the third post, but without cropping any off of the side of the frame.  As you can see from everyone's comments this is all very subjective, though.  wink crying
