This species which we photographed in the Atlantic Rainforest of Brazil quickly became my favorite tanager species, it also have bright orange/red on the rump when it flies.

Beautiful little bird on a very cool perch.
One instance, also, that a butt shot would be interesting!

Very colorful bird with some strange looking, almost stringy feathers!  Nice capture of it, Nate!  I like the moss also.  It adds some extra content to the scene.

Oh, Nate, this is just beautiful. This, like others of the birds you post, doesn't even look real.  Just gorgeous.

That's a beautifully colored bird Nate. Perch and background really allow the Tanager to pop nicely. Excellent capture!

Gosh, what a beauty.  Everything's spot on here, Nate.  With red too, it must be a very close relative of the Paradise tanager, I imagine.

Gorgeous bird and capture. Doesn't even seem real. The branch adds a lot. Well done.

Wow, neat bird.  Sometimes I think that you just build these birds in Photoshop.  This bird doesn't really exist.  You had him in the perfect spot, as the composition and lighting look perfect and a great view of this colorful little bird.  devil

Remarkably similar color combination as the Green Jay, Nate.  A beautiful bird.  To my eye, it looks a bit oversharpened.

Thanks for your comments everyone.  I actually used substantially less sharpening than usual on this shot.  I think the bird was a bit wet.

Very interesting texture on the feathers of this Tanager.  I really like the colors.  Good job with the background which is just great for this bird.   The large image is really a must see.
