Sterna maxima

I captured this Royal Tern on the Canaveral National Seashore on Merritt Island. A bit higher ISO than I needed but clouds kept coming in and out.

Hey Matt, great flight shot with the wings up. I really like the wave in the background too. Excellent job on processing the whites and that orange beak pops. Great work!

Nice, Matt.  Great wing position and a soft enough background to not merge with the wings. Well done!

perfect wing position from this fellow. The foamy surf  in the BG adds a lot, and the blue/white/orane contrast is nice.

The wings look very similar to our Arctic Terns but the body sure is different.  A very nice capture of it, Matt.  The background surf adds some nice environmental context.

Great wing position, perfect exposure, great detail.  Great job with the white/gray bird and the dark blue water.

Nice detail in the plumage and you even caught a catchlight, Matt.  I do wish the wave hadn't been breaking behind it as the wings kind of blend with it.

Superb detail on this Royal Tern.  I like the wing position against the waves in the background which really make them stand out nicely.  Colors are just perfect.
