Hibiscus III

Last of the series.  This color was growing halfway into the driveway of one of the other complexes on the street, but I figured no one would object to my taking a picture or two.  There was a bit of lighter colored bg stuff to the right of the blossom, so I darkened it in processing and just left the leaves showing.

5Diii, EF100 f/2.8 macro, tripod and cable release, manual focus, f/22, 1/160, iso 500, aperture priority, pattern metering, -2/3 EV.  Processed in LR5 & CS6.  Cropped to a 14.7 6x7 ratio before resizing.  Taken at 3:22 PM on January 27th.

Comments and criticisms are always welcome.

Thanks,

Dennis, the color and detail in your Hibiscus III image is wonderful.  While I really liked your other two Hibiscus images, I prefer this one that is displayed in it's natural setting.

Impressive flower nicely imaged in its natural setting, Dennis. Excellent color and detail throughout the big bloom.

Dennis: Beautiful flower done right. I like the bud peeking through the petals up top and that you have sharp focus on the center parts. Bravo! >=))>

Perfectly lovely and well taken. Techs look appropriate. I suggest a slight crop on the right to lessen the impact of the dark area, maybe half way to the green leaves on the right of the flower.

Love the detail in this, Dennis - not just the flower centre but also the petal markings which can be too florid sometimes but here are handled beautifully.  I like all the touches of greenery, except maybe for the single leaf encroaching a bit on the stigmas.  Beautiful image whatever !
