Solitary Tree

I took this picture on the Tuscan hills in Italy. I was attracted by the static tree in contrast with the "dynamism" of the fog. I used a telephoto lens to isolate the subject. It's a kind of minimalist image and I am curios to hear your thoughts and impressions. Thank you.

Very nice capture. An even tighter crop around the tree eliminating the far background might also be interesting.

This is excellent, IMO. Simple yet powerful. The muted colors and straightforward layers provide such a wonderful support for that distinct tree. A truly poetic image. The fog perfectly embraces that tree. It's an image worthy of meditation. It's one of those images where you beome aware how beautiful our planet truly is. A real winner.

Now this is landscape art, not just a photo.  I love the curve of the FG land mass and, as you said, the dynamism of the fog.  beautifully crafted and executed Mattia.  I always get excited by an idea captured so successfully.  Inspirational.

You may want to simplify this further by cropping out the top blue layer entirely and see how you like it. Don't compensate by cropping in from the sides, however.

This is quite the lonely tree, Mattia.  Having the fog/cloud glowing with light around it adds some fine emphasis.  I also like how you have taken the long view and show lots of background.  This looks great as presented.  I do think that a tigther view would also work well as a notably different image..

This is an excellent image. I like the composition, the light and the simplicity of the image. The only thing I might suggest is to crop the top part of the sky (the lighter part) out of the image.

Wonderful image, beautifully composed. I also think a tighter crop eliminating the sky and light background layer would be even stronger.

Hello Mattia,

I really love what you have captured here. I actually think a crop from the top is an excellent idea. It will allow the viewer to soak in the pure artistic landscape beauty of this image. To me, this is an image about thought. I am very spiritually stimulated with what you have captured. The lone tree amongst the rolling hills along with the fog all come together to produce some just awesome work in photography.

Initially I thought this to be sand blowing off a dune.  Fantastic shot and timing - especially if it were dust and dune!  Your minimalist approach works perfect for me.  Could even see cropping off sky, but that might not leave you with much of an image to print, if that is your ultimate goal.  Love this kind shot, excellent job.
