Mark,
Very nice river scenic which really captures a cold, almost clammy mood and atmosphere. I really like the flow of the water pulling the viewer in to the frame.
I'm thinking of a crop that would probably change the mood, so think of it as an alternate suggestion rather than attempting to improve on this. For me, the right 1/3 or so, especially the overcast/foggy sky, while good for the overall atmosphere and scenic view, I don't adds to the elements that I like, which is the water and flow. I think for an alternate view, you could crop all the way from the right to just past the orange-ish rock. That's a significant crop, but still leaves the large rock and boulder in the background with the flow of the water. Just a thought.

Hi Mark,
I like this as is, but try Lon's cropping suggestion to see how much it changes your image. I especially like the blue-greens and orange brown river bottom. Well done..........................Jim

I like the beautiful emerald color in the water as well as the way that the stream guides my eye in the scene. I do feel like the comp is a little tight on the left side. I think I would prefer a slight shift in camera position to the left a little in order to show more of the motion in the water (but of course I don't know what lies out of the frame).

I really like the green water, and your shutter speed is great to give a nice smooth flow. Plenty of detail in the rocks set against the stark winter branches in the back. You might try a view of this cropping the single branch off the left side and a bit more off of the bottom? Just a thought.

Mark: I like the low angle you shot from. The colors, composition and techs are all spot on and the flow of the water acts like a leading line. An alternative might be to crop the top to the top of the big rock. That would get rid of the grey sky and lend a different feel to the photo.Richard

I difficult time of year to make landscape images with the lighting you had and lack of snow. I feel the chill from those overcast skies. The most interesting aspects for me is the water flow on the left, the water color which looks almost glacial, and the FG rocks. I wish the cascades weren't so close to the frame edge, but you may have had reasons not to include more on the left. Honestly, I might have stayed in with a hot chocolate instead of shooting on a day like this, so I commend you. We so often try to get those crazy sunrise color shots, so this refreshing view of most of the reality we get out there is a nice change.

there is a nice flow to this Mark and love the colors. I wish the FG boulder was not cut and there was less of sky visible.

This certainly portrays that chilly winter rain perfectly, Mark. Even without snow, it makes me shiver. We've had our share of rain lately. Everyday I take my dog for a ride looking desperately for something that catches my eye, mostly in vain. Every once in while, I press the shutter, but not very often. I still like the solitude of bad weather days and this brings that home to me.
