Very nice image, and a great bird to see. I'd consider darkening the stuff in the top right corner.

Beautiful bird, beautiful image.  I agree with Richard about darkening the upper right corner.

I remember our encounter with this beauty almost like it happened yesterday.

You captured him very nicely Sandy! I like how the oof background frames the owl. Excellent details.

Sweet One!!!

Sandy, nice find!  These are such beautiful birds.  When using flash or a spotlight, the brightly-lit background can often be distracting, but I like that you had enough shadow behind to sort of separate the bird from those branches.

I'm curious if you'd be willing to share your technique for eliminating the red eye.  I have my own method, but am always interested to hear how others do it.

Max - lol - I feel really stupid, but about a month ago, I found a red-eye-removal tool in PS6, and I would guess it's in ALL the PS's and Cs's and has been for years.  Under the "heal" tool on the left side, is a RED-EYE-REMOVAL tool!  I've been doing it manually, and poorly, for years.

Thanks Sandy.  I know there are many different techniques that could be used.  I use an elliptical marquee to select the pupils, then desaturate the red and lower the levels of the resulting gray to black, which generally works pretty well.  What I have not found is a good technique for "white eye."

Great capture Sandy with nice colors. The upper right corner could use some attention. Well done!

Beautiful shot Sandy, I was actually at Sachatamia when you posted this and the owls were still hanging out in the parking lot.  Nice job with the red eye reduction and thanks for the kind words. devil

Stunning capture and beautiful bird.  I love the golden-yellows of the beak and leg against the blacks and whites of the feathers.
