Green Flowerpot Coral

Flowerpot corals are named for the long stalked polyps that resemble daisies growing from a flowerpot. I shut off every pump in my tank and allowed the coral to adjust to the new conditions.   I do not use a polarizing filter, but shoot the tank with the room lights turned off.  To adjust white balance, I attached a white sheet of translucent foam to the front glass and photographed it.  The final exposure was made from a Pmax stack of 21 images.  Even though water flow was eliminated, the polyps still moved slightly so extensive editing was necessary in Zerene Stacker. Once in photoshop, I adjusted the Lightroom generated white balance further to remove any residual blue cast.  saturation was also reduced for yellows and greens in Photoshop.  Finally, I ran Dfine 2 on the BG.........................Jim

Beautiful coral, Jim.  Sounds like a lot of work getting the shot set up, but the results are wonderful.

Most definitely GREEN, Jim.  Wow do these corals pop.  It's a great view.  You're stacking efforts paid off well (and having done stacks of slightly moving subjects, I have a good idea how much time you put into "clean up").
