Elk Creek Sunrise
by Mark Seaver
This is an 8 vertical shot stitch of a sunrise over the Elk Creek drainage in Yellowstone, taken at the start of a joint outing with fellow NPNer Pete Bengeyfield. For me, a favorite part of Yellowstone are the open spaces and long vistas of the northern sections and this looks across one of those. (5D3, 70-200 f2.8 @ 70mm, 1/25 s, f/11, iso 200, tripod and cable release) The foreground opens up nicely in the larger view.

4 commentsIn fact most of the sunrise / sunsets I do any horizon shooting towards almost demands a reverse grad or something to dampen the intensity while photographing in the deserts. In this case the clouds seem to almost provide a natural barrier there. Very nice work with the completed photo both in the field and post processing.......
