I can't think of any place that I've been where shadows are as compelling a photographic element as the Mesquite sand dunes in DVNP. This is an older film image from there, shot with a Nikon F5 and, I'm certain, velvia. Beyond that, I can't offer any techs. Suggestions and other comments welcome.

This is a great, graphic image Scott! The color combination is great and the comp too. I like that the top two ridgelines are sharp and the bottom is a softer transition. No suggestions here.

This is very artistic and nicely dramatic, Scott, with the bright sand against the dark shadows.  You were probably pushing the exposure limits of film when you took this, with digital you might have to work to darken the shadows and brighten the sunlit areas.

This is gorgeous, Scott.  I keep debating with myself about the edges.  Part of me wants to see the shadow wedge on the left go to a complete point and the bright patch in the center right do the same, but another part likes the tension of them being truncated.  The sunlight/shadow pattern is so bold that it takes awhile for the eye to start pulling out detail, which I like.
