Mum?

This is a flower from the bunch that I posted the shadow of the other day.  I'm afraid my knowledge of garden flowers is sadly lacking, so I'll leave it to one of you to identify them.  The artificial lights I used threw the white balance way off on this, but I decided I liked the flower a little off it's natural color.  I moved it about 14 points toward neutral (it looked like it would have taken about 40 to get there) and in PS I moved the tint on the bg to go from the slightly orange original to the pink you see in the final image.  This is a 10 image stack using Zerene Stacker.  The bg was white foamboard.

ID based on viewer input.  Thanks!

5DIII, EF180 f/3.5L macro, tripod and cable release, all images taken at f/16, 1/13 sec, iso 500, Pattern metering +1 1/3EV.  Slight crop for composition.

I'm not sure why the bg ended up darker along the right and I'm not sure whether I like it or not-I'd be interested in other opinions.

Comments and criticisms are always appreciated.

Thanks,

I do not know what flower it is, but it is beautiful. I especially like the color. My first thought was a mum, but that is just a swag. Zinnia. re: lighting on bg; you mentioned lights; perhaps one was positioned to provide brighter light to the left side or the bulbs were different or I am not sure.  Anyway, nice image.

Hey Dennis,
I see you have moved back indoors again and with outstanding results I might add. This is simply fantastic and following your instincts with your processing choices was the right call. This beauty would also work well in the Photo Art Gallery.
Well done on an all round lovely composition my friend . . .  devil

This is beautiful, Dennis!  I love the comp and the colors.  I like the bg being darker on one side.

Very beautiful, Dennis. I like the gradient bg and light. Much nicer than a uniform bg. I normally wouldn't think a bg which is close in color to the subject would work, but this works very well. Based on the stem, and the shape of the clump of flowers, I think this is probably a variety of mum.

Hi Dennis, composition of colour on colour works extremely well - great shot!

Dennis, I think the gradient effect is from the tenfold light fall off created by the stacking. Nevertheless, I think you really benefited from the light effects. The larger this gets, the more I like it.

Yes Dennis, to me too it looks like mums that are often similar to dahlias. In this almost monochromatic photo I love mostly the warm romantic color. Excellent work.

Dennis: The larger version must be viewed! This looks more like a dahlia to me but with no scale to judge its size its hard to tell. Whatever the ID this is a superbly crafted image. Many thumbs up.>=))>
