This is from last winter in Yellowstone when there was a special abundance of fox sightings in Lamar valley. This fellow was looking for voles under the snow ona very windy day.

Beautiful wind blown fur. I also liked the up lifed front paw. His expression says "cold". Well done.

Hi Hisham,

Love the look this one is giving you...and it definitely does convey the feeling of "slyness". I find the OOF foliage in the foreground a bit distracting to the image, but the DoF (especially in the foreground) is always hard to control when using such extreme focal lengths. Wondering if a just a TAD of dark-on-dark detail can be extracted from the lower legs (they seem a bit blocked up)?

Cheers...

Brad

Excellent capture, Higham. I agree with Brad: I'd try and tease some detail out of the blacks. If you use Photoshop, I'd try the Image -> Adjustments -> Shadows/Highlights.

Interesting how the wind-induced squint invites anthropometric interpretations...

Hisham: There's a beautiful juxtaposition of the vivid color of the fox against the bleak background. The pose of the fox and all the techs are spot on. My only suggestion would be to consider cloning the two oof weeds in the lower right. Well done. Richard

I'm surprised there are only 5 comments on this image Hisham, I think it's exceptional. What holds it back a bit are the dark OOF plants in the foreground that draw the eye away from the wonderful subject and expression. I would consider cropping up above most of them or doing a little cloning, depending on what you're comfortable with.

A wonderful photo of this beauty trying to make a living in its harsh winter environment.

Hisham, good work photographing this fox from a low angle.  You've got a great view of the eyes, and I'm digging the windswept look.  I do agree with the others about bringing up the blacks a bit (if possible, I know it can be tough with these guys), and cropping slightly from the bottom in order to remove some of the foreground vegetation.

Hello Hisham ... A Sly character.....Like the raised front paw showing small amount of snow splash, And as others mentioned if more detail could be Squeezed from those dense Blacks?

Love this capture :)  Thanks for sharing.

Love it! The background is beautiful, the pose is great, and the detail is good, too. Exposure looks spot on from my computer. The name is very fitting as well! enlightened
