Castle Mountain is one of our favorite haunts in Banff NP and I've been treated to many instances of fast changing weather patterns on our visits there. The solid blanket of pines stretching from the river to the shoulder of the mountain made me think of some vast marauding horde assaulting a fortress. Or perhaps I had one too many adult beverages the night before.enlightened  Please see large to see the leading elements of the invasion force. All comments welcome.>=))>

Bill, the larger version has amazing detail and depth from that first row of trees to the top of the mountain range. Not sure if there is a need to check the green cast, probably just my morning eyes. A wonderful scene overall.

Bill,

There's something about clouds/fog/mist that can really add to and make an image.  The clinging fog/low clouds on the mountain makes this a bit more than your standard landscape view.  This works wonderfully. I can see why it's one of your favorite places.

Not exactly sure where Paul is seeing the color cast, but if it's in the green/yellow patches in the cliff faces, then I might agree. But not having viewed this, it really becomes subjective.  Otherwise, color and processing look good.

I'm undecided about the inclusion of the river; but clearly there is enough of it to add to the overall landscape. Maybe it's just the little corner of a sandbar that I'm drawn to.  Minor nit though.

Bill, the scene is gorgeous.  I especially like the overcast sky and the scattered clouds in front of the mountains.  Like Lon, I'm having mixed feelings about the bit of land in the llc.

Very nice, Bill. The clouds misting around the tops of the peaks is perfect for the "castle" look of the mountain. The photo is a bit gray overall, but the lack of dynamite light is overcome by the moody atmospheric conditions.

Interesting light and a grand place. The foreground forest looks a little flat to me. The bit of sandbar in the lower left corner could be cropped out. I like the walls and the sky.

Those mountains definitely look like an imposing fortress.  I like your composition.  I do wonder if this would be stronger as a B&W image since color is not the most significant element in the scene.  This would allow you to boost the contrast in the sky.

I like the river, I like the dense trees and the rocks, and I like the mist.  I do wonder about your consumption of adult beverages, because I am just not seeing the vast marauding horde in here! blush
I bet this is a nice place to watch the changing weather!
