Biennial Gaura

I photographed this flower a week and a half ago, an unusual bloom for mid-November.  Biennial Gaura normally stops blooming in early September, but a mild autumn has prolonged the flowering time for this plant. Background color provided by yellow leaves. 21 exposure stack (1/40 sec at f8.0, ISO 320)............................Jim

Excellent work, Jim. Well composed and good detail. This is what focus stacking is all about—fine detail and a well blurred background. I do see a faint haloing on the topside of the petal at 4 o'clock, barely discernable. Could be my imagination!sad

What stacking program did you use with this?

An attractive image. Good stacking job.  Great background; the flower shows well against it.

Excellent work on the stack, Jim, and a very pleasing composition.  I like the lighting.  After reading Phil's comment, I do see the haloing he's talking about and just a hint hear and there around the 2 o'clock petal, though the latter is extremely faint.

Yes, the flowers of Gaura plant are strange, delicate, complicated and yet beautiful. In our garden we have a bush of these flowers that I find very difficult to photograph. Jim, you have done a very good work with the stacking program.

Jim: Must have been dead still to get a 21 image stack! Marvelous detail in the larger version especially. Nicely done.>=))>
