Angry Bird & Repost

I suspect that computer game or whatever it was has gone the way of the Dodos by now, but it seemed an appropriate title anyhow.  I'm not sure what it was squawking at unless it was me.  I'm sure they were quite aware of my presence in the blind.  In any case, I was hoping I got this shot and was very pleased to see that it looked as good on the computer as it did on the camera display.

7DII, Sigma 150-600 C @ 347 mm, Jobu Gimbal mounted to blind windowsill, f/7.1, 1/320, iso 1250, aperture priority pattern metering, -1/3 EV, EX430II flash at -1 2/3 compensation.  Processed in LR5 & CS6.  Cropped from a horizontal original to a 9.3 MP 4x5 vertical.  Taken at 2:34 PM today (I need to reset the cameras for standard time).

Comments and criticisms are always appreciated.

Thanks,

A stellar image.  In any case I like the mood of the image.  It's very sharp from the eyes back to the body.  It's a tiny bit dark on my monitor.  I can certainly see why you liked it.

I think I agree, David.  Here's a repost with some rearranging of the light.  You can click on the image for a larger version.

Hi Dennis,

Repost looks good and this jay is giving you some raspberries.  The foot position and posture are excellent....................Jim

Great capture of this Jay, Dennis!  I think it's definitely letting you know what it was thinking about your setup!  The brighter repost definitely works better although the large version of the first one actually looks great.  I have noticed that many of the shots I post seem obviously darker than they look when I'm processing them even though I'm viewing this site on the same monitor.  I'm sure the difference is the bright white background on the main pages of this site.  It's so bright it makes the images look dark.  When you open the large version which has a dark gray background the brightness looks just fine.

Great Stellar's jay photo!  Good job getting it with it's mouth open!  I like both the large original and the repost.  Thanks for sharing.
