On the Merced River in Yosemite Valley.

Last week, Lon, Harley, former NPNer Kyle Krause and I spent a few days in Yosemite. The conditions were pretty nice with wonderful Autumn color and nice flow in the waterfalls and the river.

Oh, this is really nice, Preston. If your trip just accounted for this one image, then it was a huge success. One of your very best in recent memory. It's elegant and deep. It reminds me of how Winslow Homer painted the slower eastern rivers. I think t captures well the character of the Merced in the Valley. Great use of SS to get those distinct sweeping lines yet not look foggy. Can't think of a suggestion to make.

I will echo Igor's thoughts, Preston. This must be viewed large to really appreciate the subtle nuances of this scene.

Good vision!  I might have had a little less foreground and a bit more top, but great vision!

You've captured the " essence" of this scene perfectly.

An impressionist rendering for sure.  The streaking water through the scene keep my eye moving through scene.I like the rocks as a foundation in the lower portion of the scene.  Well seen.

Excellent work on this one, Preston. The resulting white-water is perfect and IMO meets a middle consensus with regard to overall water texture. Mark Twain would no doubt see them as a rendition of Haley's Comet. Appearing both on his birth date and his date of death.  ....enlightened

You've got some fine flow in this image, Preston.  Your ss choice worked very well here letting some of the details in the moving water show, like the swirling of the foreground eddy, while providing a good sense of movement.

This is really nice, Preston. The shutter speed worked beautifully capturing those wonderful streaks in the water. I like the look and feel of this very much.

Love this one Preston.  There is so much to enjoy with this including the flow and the arrangement of those elements.  the streaks across the bottom really add a unique feature to an otherwise classic water-flow image.  I really like the texture of the mini-turbulent white water as well as the river-bottom details beneath the surface.  Very well seen and captured.

The only suggestion I have on this one would be a reduction in some of the green saturation.  Perhaps using TK's saturation painting to just reduce some of the vibrant greens; mostly along the top and to a lesser extent the bottom area.
