rockfall

Playing around in a field of fallen rocks; very interesting shapes but I was finding it tough going photographically.  Thought I would try something different (for me) with the B&W conversion.

Reminds me of the skulls of dinosaurs interacting in a long, long ago age.

Your B&W conversion -- resisting the urge to go with that "high structure" contrast look -- holds the tones well.
Maybe it's just my imagination wanting to concentrate on fossilized skulls, but I find vertical forms in the URC a bit distracting.  I wonder if cropping a bit from the top would prevent my eye from wanting to wander up to that corner.

I think that the B&W conversion works well, but I am struggling to decide what the subject of the image is. There doesn't seem to be a focus for my eye to land on.

Nice contrasty, layers and textures here Ana. Good treatment with B&W

Richard is right, it's a bit busy. Need to simplify things a bit. There's a nice range of tones. You had good light and the rocks are interesting.

Thanks for the comments, everyone!  It's always useful to hear others' impressions.  I struggle with this too but I am also attracted to it, so it's something to work on.  I think I will crop down a bit from the top.  I was conceptually attached to having the distant cliffs in there but after living with the image for a few days it's true they are distracting.
