Excellent detail throughout the bird.  Nice pose and perch.  Like the background.

Nice pose, cool perch with a flawless background. When I first looked at the thumbnail I thought it looked to bright but once I opened the image up it looks fine.  Well done!

Very nice desaturated image of this weaver.  I've watched these birds and action at Woodland Park zoo in Seattle.  They are fascinating.  Not like seeing them in Namibia though.  By the way, since you are now living in Oregon, do you ever take pictures of the local birds?

David, not much interesting around here in the fall/winter, I'm afraid. An occasional migrant, though - mostly just gulls, robins, sparrows, and pelicans that we all know well.  Did get some tern pix last month that  I will post.
It's just that I took at least 10,000 pix during our 6 weeks in Africa, and still have a lot of them to process and post - and they are usually FAR more interesting than anything local !

Another nice setting, Sandy.  Looks like you barely had enough depth of field for this subject, but had some leeway to increase it a bit.  As I've learned the hard way a few times this year (e.g., my most recent Avian post), stopping down a bit for some of these tighter shots could help ensure more of the bird ends up in focus.
