Autumn in Istria II

by Peter Richter

Gallery: LandscapePosted October 18, 20162,955 views11 comments
With this image I want to continue a series from Istria, Croatia. These images were taken within a short walking distance, where autumn colors and textures displayed their great variety.

Comments and critique are appreciated.

This is beautiful. It has a great painterly look. It is so nicely understated too.

Peter, I agree with Harley's thoughts perfectly on this. Wonderful image and 100% your style that I enjoy so much. Very nicely done! Nick

Love the earthy understated colors and lots of nice textures to linger on.

Nice composition of colors and shapes. The tree on the left draws a bit too much attention. Would a square crop of thr right half hold things together a bit better? I don't know. No. I think that makes it worse. I really like how that light and dark undergrowth makes a fine background for the lines and leaves laid over it.

Interesting image, but a somewhat chaotic for me. Leaf colors add interest but the blight on the tips detracts. The smoky undergrowth is interesting the leafs look soft against it.

I like this, Peter. I like the mosaic between the branches, leaves and moss like plants. I agree with Igor about the tree on the left. While it balances the image, I think I prefer this with a little cropped off the left, including the tree trunk.

Simple and effective. Very nice. It really has the fall feeling.

I especially like the detail in the larger version.  Neat to find an abstract comp in what looks like very busy scene.

Peter, the word that immediately came to my mind when I viewed your image is "delicate".  The cloud-like seedpods seem so fragile floating amongst the autumn leaves and branches.  Simply beautiful.  You have a wonderful gift for seeing.

This is flat out wonderful, Peter. It is understated, but has all those wonderful details which let me wander around the scene savoring them all.
